http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/favusSo, I have this ongoing issue with that big male. He gets some scabby looking stuff on his comb that eats holes in it. There is no infection. I've had it on other birds too and I've managed to get it cleaned off of there before it ate holes but I haven't had the same luck with him.
You can tell he's big. That is my hand and his comb is probably as big as my hand. He's definitely a load when you pick him up.
Have any of you ever seen this before? Can you tell me what it is? The best I can do is try to keep it from going all the way through his comb. I just don't know what I'm dealing with.

The Buff Minorca cockerels were very calm and sweet. No aggression noted. It just about killed me to get rid of them. I will get more one day.
Your birds are lovely too Hangtown Farms!!
I am enjoying seeing everyone's birds. What a great thread!

Ringworm? I don't think so. I appreciate your trying to help but ringworm is highly contagious. This rooster lives with a hen, she has no sign of it. There are two cockerels right next to them... no sign. Three bantam orpingtons next to them on the other side... no sign. I've handled the area and cleaned it without disinfecting my hands afterwards... no sign.http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/favus
