So today I came to check the chicken's and.....my EE that I thought would never went broody:confused::barnie she was sick for 2 weeks then didn't lay for 1 month probably and just started laying 2 weeks ago now she's broody, oh well I am not going through the process of breaking her. My silkie just finished that spell and started laying 5 or 6 days ago she was broody for like a month I am not exaggerating. These chickens will drive me crazy 🤪 😆 lol

But, why?!?🥺 Have you ever had a broody?
Only the silkie but we have enough eggs already and 1 less layer won't hurt us. She'll stop eventually I wish I could let her hatch some eggs but I am waiting till I can get the breeds I want for chicks and I already have the breed that would be hatching from my girls and I don't want anymore of the same breeds

It is not healthy to allow her to stay broody without giving her eggs or attempting to break her.

That happens to me every time there is baby chicks at my local feed store!
Ha you wouldn't survive the day over here, they have chicks pretty much every day from March till like fall. The bantams always get to me LOL I'm hoping to do a order soon I will probably move it up the order instead of spring because my sad broody silkie is Broody again and clearly misses her friend that passed away. Plus she is getting picked on with the big hens so I am more than likely going to move her into a separate Coop and run and buy some chicks and when they're four weeks old put them with her so she can make friends with them and be "motherly" again.

I received 7 female day-old chicks on 4/4/2022. Barred Rock, Delaware, Light Brahma, Buff Brahma, Black Australorp, Buff Orpington and a Black Jersey Giant. Just found out on another thread that my Black Jersey Giant is probably a rooster.
These babies are just pets. I welcome any eggs I might get but didn’t want any reproduction.
Now, my heart wants some hatchlings. But my brain knows that rehoming any roosters might be difficult.
