Poultry Dust?

[Easily Confused]

I put DE down before putting down shavings in the coop. Is this good enough? Or should I have (as someone mentioned) put some DE in a separate box for them to dust themselves in. My DE is powdered and food grade. And when they say powdered, they are serious. I have the dust all over everything in the coop. And I only put down a thin layer. So everytime they take a dust bath in their shavings, you can see the DE floating in the air. Should I mix the DE in with sand for them to bathe? Wow, one question really just leads to the next. Kinda like remodeling "one" room. Yeah....right.

The only products that I have used is 7 dust or this Permethrin poultry dust product that I am currently using. Howevver I did purchase some bantams rocks from a breeder who did put Front Line drops on the birds before I took them home.
