On the way to the Chickenstock you can stop by Alamo Hay & Grain . I'm pretty sure they still have chicks, or at least get them in once in a while.

Did you end up raising chickens? I just joined backyardchickens.com and saw your old message from 2009.

I'm also in Los Gatos CA, and am looking to get started raising chickens in my backyard. I'd like to purchase some hatching eggs and go from there. Any advice that you can offer would be much appreciated, esp. re where to purchase the hatching eggs. I'm especially interested in heirloom breeds, rather than some modern Tyson industrial breed.
