Poultry Protector

I do have some permethrin, but it's for cattle and has other ingredients so I can't eat the eggs. I don't need a different treatment, but I was looking to see if their was something better than what I have.

I was wondering if anyone had experience using poultry protector mite spray. It says the main ingredient is citric acid and I was looking for something more natural but I didn't know if this would really work.
I saw these sprays have clove oil in them. I used some water and a bit of clove oil and sprayed the chickens. I hadn't seen any 'critters' but thought it could be a preventative. I just sprayed it sparingly. But, the chickens were not happy. I also added sparingly cedar chips with the pine shavings.
