Has anyone heard of or used a spray called poultry protector? Farm and fleet carries it and I was trying to read the directions but did not have my glasses on. You spray the bedding and the roosts only? not the birds? did not buy it because I need something to put on the birds. How does it work?

Poultry Protector - For use on the bird, on their bedding and surrounding grounds
i googled it, sounds like a great natural product, thanks for the alternative to chemicals.

I've heard of it. I have no idea how it works, though. What I originally read from the company that makes it, sure didn't explain much. That doesn't mean it doesn't work, but their inability to provide more information on how it works, made me make other choices. Let us know if you try it and tell us how you like it, ok? I don't know anyone that's tried it.

I had bad problems with some bugs sticking to the heads eating the soft feathers and also ruining their combs. My solution after loosing 5 egg layers and 3 bantams is oregano oil
I'd tried on the last white silkie left. I soak some Qtips and spread where the criters are stuck
I did this 3 times (three days) and she is clean. Those bugs also jump on people and bite.
I bought Poultry cleaner to use it as a back up and also to spray around the run and coop.
I will use on the new chicks probably in a month or so, they are only three and one week old

I was unsure about using it also, so my local Tractor Supply Store suggested I try Permethins solutions. It concentrated and you mix with water to make more applications. Then spray your chickens wherever the infestation is. Then she suggested to spread Diatomaceous Dirt in the coop area to keep them in check. I have seen comments where they mention that chicken mites do not affect humans, but I found that not to be true. I have had them crawl on me and bite me, and unfortunately managed to carry them from my clothes to my bedroom which caused quite a problem.
