I didn’t know quail could crow! Is it as bad as a rooster?

Yes male Quail crow and some are very loud! Big lungs on these small birds!

They say it’s not as loud as a rooster but mine is really loud and it’s a weird crow not like a rooster I can’t really explain the sound but there’s tons of videos on YouTube of quail crowing.

I wish I had made a video of my Bobwhites crowing, they honestly can be heard a mile or more away. Piecing sound to be right next to them when they crow! They make all manner of screeching, chattering and calling noises.

They’re cute! But I thought they had long tails? Maybe I’m confusing them with a pheasant…
