Okay, so I have learned to like exhibition fowl and I a actually interested in showing them as soon as possible. So my question is, other then having fun with your birds at shows, what benefits are brought to you from showing poultry?

You are able to interact with other breeders, learn what they have to teach you, help other people get into it.

Most of all, you are helping preserve breeds that would be lost to mass production through hatcheries and breeders not breeding towards the standard.

There's also the whole "money" thing, the respect, the birds, the knowledge shared...etc.

It's not always the higher shows...but yes, eventually when you get birds that are competitive with others, you can win money!

You won't get rich doing it...but...

I haven't been to a show yet, but I plan on using my birds as decoys to make new friends. I moved from my state's capital to the sticks, and it's hard to find anyone I can hang out with. I've met a lot of people on BYC with a variety of interests and a good wit, so I'm hoping to meet some of them "out there."

So well said.

It does look good for you too if you sell, or have egg layers. If you put a little hard work and win some awards .
