Power Outage

Yes, it is very frustrating! Especially when you pay a pretty penny for them. LOL! Good luck with your hatch!! It sounds like your chicks have a good chance of survival. Keep us posted.

How long will that keep the bator going? I'm going to have to have a back-up plan if this ever happens again. We could normally handle a short-term power outage by running the generator, but a week or more without power is a bit much. Gas is just too high to keep it running 24/7.

I am so happy to hear that most of the eggs din't have any issues after cooling down. We were out skiing today and got home a bit later than we normally do. In the evening I had a bad feeling that something happened: either the house was on fire or the eggs were in trouble. The house didn't burn down but the eggs were 28C. I quickly started the heat pads and I saw that the computer was off so the power went out. I see it on the stove that there is a 3 hr difference so that's how long it had to be off. The incubator is warming up well, it is almost at target temp. I turned the eggs and we are candling tomorrow on day 10 because there were a few questionable eggs on day 7. I am hopeful they will survive.

This is #5 and a favourite because it was the easiest to see the chicken move on day 7.
