Curious as to how people have handled power outages - for example, when brooding chicks at a heat critical stage, or in the middle of winter when heating a coop with powered lights/heater? How have people dealt with extended power outages, or intermittent supply?

We don't incubate eggs (yet), so don't have to worry about that. But even if we did; nothing we could do except try to keep them as close to proper temperature as possible by keeping them near the kerosene heater (and hope for the best!).

We'd never heat the coop and don't bother with lights, either. We have an electric fence and an automatic coop door, but both are solar powered. So as far as our chickens are concerned, the power never goes out/changes anything for them.
