Okay, the power went out around 6:20am and I didn’t wake up until 9am. It took me a bit to realize there wasn’t any low humming of the fans in my incubator and when I looked, the incubator was off and sure enough the whole house didn’t have electricity. So, I drove down to my Grammie’s house because she has a generator and plugged my incubator in, but do you think it’s too late? They were on day 9. I have 5 partridge cochin eggs, 1 lavender orpington egg and 1 egg from my ameraucana.

I was supposed to candle tomorrow and I’m a little afraid to candle the eggs right now...should I candle them once they warm up a little? The incubator read 71 degrees Fahrenheit when I plugged it in

Really? I’m actually really surprised. Did you candle them before today? We’re any of them viable them, or are they just not fertile?
Yeah, they had all been candled before the power went out and were all alive. I was really disappointed to see a majority of them dead today

I

I’m so so sorry. 🥺 I really thought they would be ok. I’m so so so sorry
It’s okay, it happens sometimes. Hopefully the rest make it. I left the incubator down at my grandmas because she has a backup generator that kicks on automatically as soon as the power goes out. there’s supposed to be more storms coming tonight and the next few days.

I left the eggs in, though, i’ll candle them again on the day 15 mark ( today was day 13 ) just to be sure they’re dead and then i’ll toss them. i want to hold onto some slim chance that i made a mistake when candling today...
