Powerless heaters

I've heard about these heaters people use for their chicks that basically doesn't need power and instead uses the number of chicks to keep eachothers warm by huddling.

Is there any logic to this and if so how is one made?

Well I've never heard of that, but I know from expierance real young chicks can smother the weaker ones by huddling. Once they are feathered and stronger I would not see a problem with this concept. In fact it is a natural solution these birds use automatically.

Search on here for "wool hen." I don't have any experience with it but that's the term for a box like you're asking about.
