PPBA Show in Stockton, CA in January?

Hehehe my DH is a bigger chicken fiend than I am and would be at the show with me, but he couldn't get off work that day, unfortunately. He said it's unfair that I'm just gonna be there taking pictures while he is at work drooling while I picture-message him all the cool stuff at the show... hahahha.... I shouldn't be so mean to him--he's really good to me!

To those who are going to the Stockton show, I am writing to say hello and to introduce our documentary project. If you are going to be at both Stockton and The Crossroads Show, we'd love to meet you and learn about what you do. Here is our posting:

Los Angeles based production company is seeking participants for a documentary which focuses on passionate individuals who compete poultry. Specifically we are looking for competitors planning to attend The Crossroads of America Poultry Show October 28-30, 2011 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. From the seasoned veteran to the novice, people from all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to apply. Our documentary is character-centered, which means we focus first on the competitors, their drive, zeal, love of the sport, and then secondly, on their birds.

Applicants should be prepared to have us video at scheduled, mutually agreed upon intervals the full process of preparing for the meet, including but not necessarily limited to breeding, chick and bird selection, and the final preparation for competition.

If you are interested, please contact us at [email protected]. We will ask you to complete a short application and will provide instructions to submit a brief video.

For those applicants planning to attend the Stockton show on January 30, 2011 we may ask, after review of your application to meet and video selected candidates while we are there.

Thanks.

Nicole

thanks all of you for show info, sounds like a lot of fun! How early would you say I should be at the sale barn, and uh....how are birds sold, I mean are the sellers there with their birds? What kind of payment is accepted, etc.? Looking for laying chicks to grow out, and nice BCMs and Welsummers

I might have an egg entry if I can get 2 more....just to fill out the egg division anyway

Thanks so much for your ongoing information. I need to start my cage training today or tomorrow and have some questions... is there a chance I can call you?

We just moved to a 100 year old farm house on 9 acres and are thrilled to have the opportunity to own chickens. I am planning on attending this show with my family. It will be our first one! But, we cannot go until Sunday. We are interested in heritage LF, docile breeds, and getting a variety of egg colors to share with our friends. Our 9yo son wants to show a bird at the fair in breed, (not showmanship), so we need at least 1 show quality bird as well. We aren't interested in bantams. We have researched for the last 5 months and think we would like something along the lines of SL or other colored Wynadottes, Welsummers, (I have made arrangements to purchase a pullet at the show but she is not show quality), Ameraucanas, Brown Leghorns, Lavender Orpingtons and maybe Suss.. We are flexible as long as we can get a variety of colored eggs. We want to see the breeds in person so we can see if one catches our fancy more than others. After months of internet research and book reading we are ready to see the real thing! We also want to raise some chicks.

So here are my questions:

Will there be much to look at by Sunday?
Will there be any birds to purchase by that time or would I have to make arrangements beforehand and have the birds saved for me?
Do any of you have birds that I might be interested in purchasing?
Will anyone from the Fresno are be there so I can meet you? I live in Reedley.

Thanks for bearing with me through my first post.

PS - I will be going to the show in Fresno too. So that will be another opportunity for me to find birds.

Hey all, we plan to be there on Saturday and was curious if anyone might have any Welsummer and/or Cochin eggs they might be able to bring. I hate asking so soon but it really snuck up on me this year! Feel free to pm if anyone has any leads, thanks!

I can't find anything on it when I google it except for a website that doesn't work, do you have contact info on that?
