PPBA Show in Stockton, CA in January?

Just because something is showable does not mean it will win. There is a big difference between a bird lacking any DQ's and a bird that is competitive enough to win, especially at a big show like Stockton. Don't be disappointed no matter how you do- call ducks are a competitive class. Another thing is when you BUY a bird, unless you pay big $$$ you probably won't get something that you can WIN a competitive class with, but that doesn't mean you can't BREED something that you can win with from them.

Relax and enjoy the show!

You will learn a lot if you take the time to talk to other exhibitors.

Ok, now my DH is threating to go!!!

That would put a cramp in my style!!!

I am soooooo excited for the show! I'm especially excited for the sale barn (though I am trying to stay sane, especially with the numbers of birds I take home), but really I'm excited for ALL of it! Seeing all of the gorgeous birds, hanging out with my BYC friends, taking pictures, and getting to geek out poultry style!

Reserving the hotel room for Chickee and I tonight! I've been so busy with wildlife and an injured serama of mine, plus rescuing chickens for my work and my foster puppy, that I didn't get a chance to before!

Jeremy, I love your new avatar! Maybe someday we can get our corgis together to play.

Thank you! I'm sure Toby would love a playmate, he isn't around other dogs much and always has loved the interaction. We're actually thinking of getting another Corgi some time towards the end of the year for this very reason.

Keeping sane in the sale barn... that's something I'm going to have to try my best at doing.

Having not been at a show I'm not sure how it works. Will the sale area be open on Friday (when we coop in the show birds) If so do you think we can sneak a peak?

Also if someone knows, how does it work...if you want to by something do you have to hang around the cage if the seller isn't there?

Thanks for the info. That makes perfect sense. I will talk with other Call breeders and see what I will need to do to improve for the ones to follow. Now I will relax and look forward to the "big" day! If nothing else, I do love their personalities...they are a ton of fun!

I definitely know what you are talking about (not even Midol can help that type of cramp

)....I think the saying is...."It is easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission"....my DH is working a later shift so might be with me as well....maybe we can find something for the guys to do so we can send them off together? Maybe a big sale at Bass Pro Shop nearby???

Thanks Cheryl, I will search him out. I am so eager to learn all I can and just having a name is so helpful!

I know we haven't met yet, however, I wanted to say congratulations on your engagement!

Mine is pretty supportive even thought an occasional "MORE CHICKENS and MORE EGGS??????" comes out of his mouth!

We'll have to get together early so the 'NON-OBSESSED" ones can hang together and we can go about hunting and gathering!
