People donate pairs of breeder quailty birds for auction and raffle. The money goes to the clubs putting on the show. You can buy raffle tickets to win the pairs and bid on them in the auction.
Let me just add that the breeder raffle birds are show quality. It is a good place to look for 4-H projects. These are not birds that are "culls."
People donate trios for this raffle, and they are judged as if they are in an open show. The winners even get decent cash prizes! There are trios of all types entered, bantams, LF, WF. So for the price of a raffle ticket, you can win some nice stock to get started with. Unlike the birds entered in the open show, these birds can leave once the raffle is over.
Are the raffle tickets for the breeder raffles sorted by breed? So if I were interested in SLW and bought some tickets, I wouldn't win bantam silkies or anything?
