Practicing Self Control

No advice.

My better half says Jan1 is culling day.

Once the flocks, herds, and colony are "right sized", THEN (and only then) am I allowed to look.

I need to remove 3-4 goats. 8 roosters + 1 hen. 3 drakes. 2-3 rabbits.

(Full disclosure: Even if the weather cooperates [maybe] and I get up early [unlikely], I also need to finish the turkey hutches and repair a soft spot in the RV floor. Oh, and only have freezer space for roughly 2 goats. Chest freezer needs to be emptied, defrosted, and re-packed as well. So I'll probably be typing here instead.)

Phew! That's a substantial list of things to do. I would not know where to start, so "typing here" seems appropriate until the urge to complete a task passes or your better half forgets about the chore list.

I have 10 hens. Three are nearly 5 yo, two are going on 4, and 5 are going to be 2. So far, all 10 seem healthy and are doing well, but I do have one who had salpingitis last February, so I know she could have it again and not recover.

My space and brain say 10 is the maximum. My eyes say, oooo! cute little fluffer bottoms! My brain says, look, but don't touch the place order key.

There is always an overwhelming "to do" list.

You may have noticed I'm a frequent poster??? hahahaahaa

Look at all the pretty birds! Received the McMurry catalogue yesterday. Went from hmm, maybe to NO! Too many eggs with 4 birds and do I really want to go through brooder to hen house. I'd like to say "The Wisdom of Age" but it's really a case of I'm not going through that again. :D
window shopping works for me... fill your online cart up with your dream flock. Then delete the contents of the cart lol.... An hour or two of enjoyment and no harm done for the long term.
