She had a boil come up in the middle of her back (spine area)... it is really huge and gross looking... she showed it to me late last night... I took her to the doctors today and since she is deathly afraid of needles(she had two root cannals last year on her front teeth and she refused the shots from the dentist)the doctor is trying strong antibiotics and a sab... if its not better by saturday we have to take her to the emergancy room and have it drained... the docto wanted to give her an antibiotic shot but she wouldn't let him... please pray that it will get better because I know from experience that she is going to fight it... she only wieghs 108 lbs but she can sure pack a punch when it comes to needles

I will keep her in my prayers. I have a 26 year old daughter that was always petrified of needles so I understand... she's much better about it now though. Hopefully your daughter will relent if she realizes how serious this could be and not take any doctors out!

I had a huge fear of needles when I was younger. Eventually I had a doctor prescribe 2 tiny little pills so I could get my shots updated. He said they would just help me relax. Yea was out of my head but it sure made the getting shot process alot easier. I didn't need to deck the doctor and I actually got caught up on shots. Might see if they will work with you on that one.

sending you positive thoughts and prayers

Here's hoping that the oral antibiotics are enough to take care if this. I'm a fortysome-year-old needlephobic, so I can understand how she feels. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take the needle, though. I just had bloodwork done a month ago, and the lab tech at my doctor's office was nice enough not to laugh too much when I requested that he take the blood while I was still laid out on the exam table. I explained that it was going to be a lot easier for him to do it that way than to have to scoop me up off the floor when I passed out . . .

I was a sicly child ... always had to have surgeries for different things but mostly ears nose and throat surgeries so needles don't bother me...when I was seven I had blood work done(i watched them draw blood) my older sister ws there and she ended up passing out and got all of the attention... I was jelious... it was suposed to be my day...lol

her boil is getting huge,,, you can see it thru her shirt... I may end up taking her n the morning instead of saturday... she is in soo much pain that she won't even straighten up because it hurts worse...

You might point out to her that what she's feeling right now is WAY more painful than even 10 needles. And since it's on her back, she won't see them anyways! Give her a Nintendo. She'll turn into a zombie and you can get it taken care of!

Good luck, Mom. We all hate seeing our kids in pain...yuk.

My son and I are both allergic to spider venom and get boils if bitten. People get little spider bites a lot more than they know because there is no reaction. I found that the best stuff to make a boil come to a head is called Boilease. I soak in a tub full of warm water and epsom salts, let the boil area air dry, apply the boilease and cover it with a bandaid for about 12 hours. Repeat as needed. The salve the doctor gave you may be similar. Ask him if it is an antibiotic cream or a drawing salve. Ask him if the over the counter Boilease would be OK. Boils are painful, but that stuff was the best drawing salve I ever found. It is good at relieving the pain too.

Why don't they just give her some of that gas you get at the dentists office that makes you all loopy and then use the needle on her boil. It'd work for me

I hate hate hate needle! So you can imagine what it was like for me to have to give myself 4 shots a day when I had gestational diabetes

I just about passed out when the nurse was showing me how to give myself the shot.

my daughter thought it was a spider bite .... she was at her cousins house for a couple of days and her cousin sat on her and popped it with a fork( gross and stupid I know-not happy about it)... don't know what it looked like before that... I am sure that made it alot worse... when I see that girl I am gonna fuss at her...
