I have Crohn's, the only way to accurately diagnose it is to see it by colonoscopy or a Given imaging pill. (depending on location)
Blood tests are good indicators but are not fool proof.
ALL of my blood tests came back normal.
I know the symptoms he is having if his doctor even thought of Crohn's. He needs to find a GI that specializes in Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. I went through 3 GIs and a bunch of regular doctors before being diagnosed, and I had 8 out of the 10 most common symptoms including extra GI symptoms. Mine was diagnosed only after emergency surgery to remove 18 inches of my gut.
If he is getting sick from eating it sounds like he has a blockage or stricture. Has he had a barium swallow?
What tests have they run besides the blood tests and a colonoscopy?
If he has not had a barium swallow, he needs to DEMAND that or other diagnostic that can detect a blockage or stricture.
I could never drink Ensure, it would cause me pain and other problems.
For partial relief of the gut pain, get him to drink chamomile tea. (lived of Coke and chamomile tea for 2 years)
Tell him to cut back on the Imodium. NO NSAIDs (pretty much all pain relievers except Tylenol) They cause more harm than good.
I am sorry if I went into his business more than was comfortable but I live with this disease, and I have seen more people misdiagnosed than I care to remember.
