prayer warriors (following Jesus Christ, everyone welcome)

Praying for your sister SG.

Thank you :)

Your question back to me is excellent

How would christianity be a crutch? I've heard that before, but how?...

That would keep the conversation going but if I replied back with :

I think it is for the weak

What would you say?

Jesus feeds the weak, heals the sick, and raises the dead, so I think it's perfectly made for "weak" people :D

See, that's part of the problem, though. People don't generally admit they're weak. At least, not most people. A fair percentage of people want to look perfect and strong to the outside world, otherwise they have to ask for help, and that requires letting go of pride or control. Most don't want to give up control.

I read a horrible horrible article the other day, a good reminder of why we should be VERY wary in our web searches. Luciferianism...claims that Satan was sent here to "liberate us" from an opressive God.... I almost list my lunch :(

But that's the problem right there. To admit you're weak and need Jesus, people feel like they're losing "control", not gaining an everlasting captain to steer the ship during storms ;)

Thank you :)

Welcome to the prayer thread ! I appreciate your comments.

One lecture I remember attending had the presenter using a power point during the lecture. At this University, as with all the lectures this guy gave, he made himself available for questions after the presentation. The student got up and ask his well thought out question and the lecturer clicked the power point and the answer came up in less than a second, the questioner was surprised, there is nothing new under the sun. All questions have answers when (and because) we have truth on our side, I might not know the answer but I know there is a reasonable answer. If you are having a conversation with a friend, write down the question and the people on this thread will help research the answer.

The conversation with my cousin did not end well and I was sad for days, he never read my answers, he would ask another question or the same question in a different way and again not read my reply, after about six weeks I gave up. We do not have any contact now.

Quote: That is sad. But, you do know your cousin was simply asking questions to keep drawing you away from the real issue. It's a very common practice, and one that we are all familiar with on this thread. Some people just don't want to know. And for them, all we can do is pray. We had a missionary who was from Africa come to our church. Blind man, excellent speaker. Excellent apologeticist. He spoke of the often asked question... (asked in our country: "But what about the person in Africa who has never heard about Jesus? Such questions are often a smoke screen for the person doing the asking to avoid answering the question of what HE will do with Jesus.) This missionary said that when he is sharing the gospel in his country, he often has people ask, "But what about the person in America who has never heard about Jesus?!!!"

When my husband abandoned me, I finally sought counseling. I sadly couldn't find the right fit. I specified a need for a Christian counselor. I gave up when I was told, "I won't even talk to you until you admit that God isn't real..."

@MotorcycleChick
@lazy gardener
@LittleLakePhil

you are all in my prayers this evening.
The Lord I serve has worked in my life in ways that are truly remarkable. My wife and I got sick in summer of 2007, I had heart surgery and she had cancer, one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time, while she was in surgery Ed and Barbra were in the waiting room with me, I gave them a book that day, The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, they are two of the three that I know have started to follow Jesus because I was thinking about them, spreading the good news. Ed was abandoned by his mother and dad, he was raised in a boys home, survived the Viet Nam war and began to follow Jesus because my wife said that the eternal life that we have with Jesus was a "gift". When you have the life Ed had a "gift" is a rare item that means more than you know.

We have two reasons to be alive, everything else is meaningless, know God (Jesus) and make Him known to others. Read the Bible and other books that you think will help with those two reasons. Read to Duckling, read while fishing, pray while gardening, rant at God for the pain in your life, He is big enough to take it. If you are reading the Bible while fishing, take the bait off the hook, you don't want to be interrupted.

I want to thank you three and everyone who reads this post for putting meaning into my life.

in God's grip,
John

I agree 100% with ocap, it is hard to explain this to an atheist who doesn't want to take any way of understanding something. What do you think happens when you die? How did a big bang know to create something so complicated? I do believe in some morphing but not the morphing of a human being! Please take what Christians have to say to help you understand God. If your an atheist 100% and don't care about what we have to say then why did you even click on this page If you know it's about something you don't believe our care about? We should be glad that some of you did because we can explain to you what to believe and you can either take it or leave it. If you still don't like what we say than Don't keep reading and arguing about it. Think very carefully about this, and it's not bad to read a bible for answers even if you still don't believe.

Sorry was that for me? What is morphing?
