prayers and questions shipping eggs

well everyone, I shipped my first batch of eggs today. please pray they are received in good order and hatch goes well for buyer. so, that being said, please explain to me how I should be shipping boxes.

It cost me $15.20 to ship the box priority with delivery confirmation. I only charged $15 for shipping. This doesn't include any shipping/wrapping materials. So, how do I ship cheaper? Did I use the wrong box? How do you wrap your eggs? I wrapped each egg in bubble wrap, placed in egg carton, used shredded paper and egg shells for cushion.

Hello Cray-

Well, I haven't shipped eggs, but I have rec'd eggs. The eggs came from Texas to Ohio where I live, and the lady charged me $15.00 for shipping, which I thought was fine.

She wrapped each egg in bubble wrap, and put them inside a small box with packing peanuts, then she put that box into ANOTHER box with more peanuts.....it worked great, and every egg was in perfect condition.

Sounds like you're doing everything correctly!

Sounds like the only way you might ship a little cheaper would be to use Priority Mail by weight instead of Flat Rate.

Flat rate boxes are a little less like 12.60 I think. However it is the shreadded paper that is weighing your packag so much. I wrap each egg in bubble wrap and put in packing peanuts or wadded up newspaper in the bottom of a small box add eggs add more packking material so they will not move at all then I out that box inside a pioroty usps box and sdd wadded paper so that box will not move I ahve never spent more thatn 11.00 to ship-1 dozen this way and they make it to their new home in great shape. just a suggestion !!!

The post office has boxes for shipping that are standard. Fro 10.95 you should be able to ship up to 20lbs as long as they fit.
