So at night when they should go up there ramp into the coop to roost, well the 4 black chickens dont seem to know how to do it which is concerning me as I have to put them in manually each night, as they cuddle up on the coops roof and sleep there????? The brown layer goes to roost fine, but these girls aren't? should I give them time? They seem to have lived I reckon in a barn or shed because they've no idea what to do at sundown which is really odd ..
Not room for more than 2, maybe 3, birds in that tiny coop...
...that is probably why they are sleeping outside the coop.

Could be actually but I have added a nest box to the rear side behind the coop, a big eggshell one I had spare. So 4 should sleep both in the lay boxes and one should sleep in the center, but they all bunch up with each other, well whatever makes them comfortable I guess.. This is only temporary though.

Didn't do a bad job adding the other laying box if I'm honest, it's not ideal but they've got a lot more room for now. I'll post original pictures of the old coop tomorrow I need to reattach the wheel for it and it's good to be used, it's a carriage cart coop, hard to explain but it's massive.

I put hardware cloth around my first chicken coop. It was a chain link 10 x 10 x 6 foot. I left the chain link off and applied the hardware cloth. I attached it in 11 foot pieces corner to corner. Then added a second piece atop that. This was all secured with aluminum wire and cable ties. Later I threaded aluminum wire through the edge of each piece on each side to make I solid piece out of it. It was like sewing the hardware cloth together.

I went back to look at your coop. My first coop was just about the same I think. I housed eight Isa Browns in it. They slept in it till they good to about a year old. After that they all cuddled together on top of the coop.

Ok heres a few picture of the the coop with hardware cloth and the other nest box. Which I forgot to take pictures of before.

Also images of the old coop i was talking about . Plus heny, it really makes me proud how happy she is, after everything she went through, it still makes me cry. Such a determind little thing:)

One question though, below will be an imagine of a balck chicken with a white face which i need advice with.. Is it a rooster? It attacks you every morning, cherps very deeply, and have caught it jumping on the other girls.... It's been pecking my legs,, showing the girls things when it finds a worm, basically doing what a cockerel does, but im confused because i wanted 4 girls. I dont know maybe its just a weird hen or its got a personalilty disorder:gig ???.

Anyhow here's the images... Hardware cloth will be put on the pen also, when I have a free moment. Comments welcome, under the coop i know theres a cap between the tray, it'll get resolved soon. Advice needed everyone!
