Predator light - anyone tried one?

I ran across this the other day and was wondering if anyone had ever tried it or heard of anyone trying one. It's simply a flashing red led light that's supposed to ward off all kinds of predators... I think bears, coyotes, fox, oppossum, etc. Seems to simple to work but the reviews on it are all great. If a simple red LED will keep predators away I'm gonna string up flashing red christmas lights on my duck pen. Any feedback or thoughts on this product? (other than it's a little pricey for what it is)

I don't have experience with it but have seen this advertised here and there. Must admit I'm a little skeptical of the way it's supposed to work (LED lights look like predator eyes and scare off raccoons, etc.).
I'd think the animals could get used to it and figure out that it is not going to cause them harm. Hopefully someone who has used it will post.

I feel confused about the red light stuff. I thought the reason we use a red colored heat lamp for chicks was that they couldn't see it at night and thus be kept awake as they would if we were using a plain white heat lamp. Maybe mammal vision is different?

There have been threads on here about those before. A few said they do help if you move them around a lot, but most seemed to feel they were ineffective.

Most people who have tried them have indicated here that they don't work.

Your best protection is locking the chicks up in a preditor proof coop EVERY night.

Make sure you have secure locks, no rotting wood, hardward cloth on the vents/windows, secure bottom that prevents digging in from the bottom, and secure poop door that can't be pried open.

so I am sceptical....
I looked at several prducts on that web site. almost everything I looked at had good reviews. and this product had muiltple reviews on the same day. it give me the impression that someone may be writing reviews under different user names to promote their products. I could be completely wrong and off track - but a flashing red light ?????

We looked into these as well. When we looked really hard at the picture in the McMurray catalog we figured out that they had one on each side of the post. And at $30 bucks a pop that is pretty expensive. We would rather invest in electric fence around the bottom of run to help with another level of security.

Well--I've had a great result from them.

I had racoon attacks like crazy and tried everything.

Figured I might as well try the NiteGuard flashing red lights at night. (no, I don't work for them)

That was six years ago. I have about 20 of them all over my chicken yard...I would buy a few every once in while which is why I have so many now. I tend to over due when it comes to my chickens.

I think they are $25.00 each and last for about three years.

So, from my experience, they have been very, very effecitve.

I don't know about other brands. I saw them advertise in my Backyard Chicken magazine by the company I mentioned and tried five set up in different locations..solar powered and go on about dusk...

No more raccoon attacks ever since.
