In the middle of the night, it would be totally plausible for someone to go out to the coop without us knowing. It's in the back part of my yard - 80' from the back of the house. There is a dead end side street to the right (river left, school behind, house in front) that one could come down and cut through my neighbors yard and get into my yard very easily. I have a couple of hens that look like they could be roosters and they are still here so someone could just be guessing well. I really don't know - I just know that without any evidence as to where they could have gone, the probability of it being an animal predator is so low. There should be some feathers here or there from at least one of the 19 chickens - or a carcass or a bone or something.......there is literally nothing. These things have simply vanished into thin air. Now - a human could also just get lucky plain and simple - my ratio before was 10:1 - the chances of grabbing a laying hen versus a rooster were pretty good. I don't know - I'm just so baffled!

Ok so yesterday my duck was eaten by something as we forgot to lock them up.... there were no feather inside the coop but the carcass was lying 20 meters from the coop.... no head.... but the body was intact.... so I don't know what predator whould only drag it to a new lication and take the head/neck off and not wven tough the other part....???

I don't think it's an owl... she was dug from the soil the night after I burried her...and we don't have raccoonshere
