Just read your thread............any updates?? My money would be on humans - there is nothing that deters a human predator better than a farmer with a shotgun....................just an evil thought,

No news is good news, right? We bought a new trail cam and installed a house alarm sensor in the coop. The camera wasn't working right the night the alarm went off at 2am.....yup, 2am. Nothing in the coop or surrounding area that we saw - although it takes 1 minute for the alarm to go off then it probably took us another minute to get up, get downstairs and out the back door so if someone was there and saw the sensor, they had plenty of time to get out of there. We're still being vigilant and so far no other hens have disappeared thankfully - although since the last time some disappeared, 3 young hens stopped laying - that was like 2 weeks ago - and they haven't resumed so.......who knows what's up with that.....silly chickens. :)

Well I'm glad no more have walked off...but I still hope you get your hens back...to bad the camera wasn't working...then you'd have proof to take to the authorities.

I haven't had a single problem since the night the alarm went off at 2am........we didn't see anyone out there but that doesn't mean they weren't. I haven't seen the fox since I threw my sandal at him weeks ago either. We've had some construction going on in the yard so it's been loud, which could be keeping the fox away or he could have just moved on since he realized it wasn't such an easy dinner. I still think it was a human but thankfully - we haven't had any problems. I was hoping to have my electrical hooked up out there a few weeks ago but construction got delayed and then the ground froze so it has to wait for spring - but when it's hooked up, I'll be putting a camera and motion lights out there - the motion light seemed to help before it got broken.

Regardless of whatever it was, all has been quiet in the coop......thankfully!

It Is probably a human. we had this problem also. so we put up cameras and we found out It was our niegbor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
