predator proof coop??

I enclosed my run with 1/2" hardware cloth and buried it. I dug a trench about a foot deep and a foot wide and then lined it with the hardware cloth in a U shape (so there's three feet of hardware cloth lining the trench). The coop is entirely within the run. We have crows, hawks, stray cats, off-leash dogs, and rats. So far nothing has gotten in - knock on wood.

Ok. 1x2 14 gauge welded wire on the top half of the coop and also cover the top. Use 1/2x1/2 hardware cloth for the bottom half and burry it into the ground a good 6-12 inches. The halfxhalf will keep hawks, coons, possum etc. from reaching in through the bottom to grab any chickens. I also lined the whole outside of the coop with stone so that it will deter digging. We also have supports every 4 feet to strengthen the sides. Make sure you have a clear line of view to the coop just in case you need to take a shot. Also, we have coon proof latches that have a spring latch. We have a sliding lock on the coop door with a clip on it or you can also put a padlock or whatever your heart desires on it. Make sure there is only one access door to the run and everything is latched.
