Predators - Coyote's why do the neighbors ???

I think it's ok to kill coyotes, but who wants to look at that dead thing hanging from a tree, what purpose does that serve???

I would call your local sheriffs office and tell them. I believe in most counties there are ordinances regarding disposal of dead animals.

The sheriff lives perhaps a block away....

I'm thinking this must be NORMAL around here or something (we've only been here 6 months or so)

Just hang an empty 6 pack of Budweiser from your front tree.
That'll get them. Or maybe a Jeff Gordon doll.

(Just kidding all you beer & Nascar fans - Truth is you are probably
the only ones who would understand that joke)

I just hope these folks get along well with their spouses - CAN YOU IMAGINE!

I've seen that kind of thing since I was a kid....Everything from coyotes to big catfish heads nailed onto the fence or electric wire poles. I couldn't do it, but it doesn't bother me.

If they don't have livestock to protect, I don't see the purpose of hanging a Coyote body from their tree. I have livestock to protect and I wouldn't hang one from my tree. I have Pyrnees dogs to do the protecting and several guns, that do a fine job of keeping them away 'round here. It sounds more like an old wives tale to me. Can't see how hanging "bait" from a tree keeps the rest away. Stupid.

Just curious, sents can deter animals like that, but after it is dead, can't the other animals sense over time that the sents from this animal are no longer fresh and the animal is dead? Thus defeating the purpose of hanging the body for extended period of time IF they had livestock to protect?

yeah, in fact that's one reason why I have a male Pyrnees dog. He marks the fenceline of his territory, and the Coyotes don't even cross it. They'll walk all the way around and through the neighbors pastures to avoid my place.
