That's bad, 30! I really hope to lose none. Just stepped outside, hoping last night was an anomaly. Tonight 2 racoons an opossum and possibly a Fisher by the creek. Something's got to give.

I've heard them right across the road, and found one dead by car out front a few years ago. 3 hours sleep last night. Maybe I'll have to start trapping and shooting these racoons?

Watch for a younger livestock guardian dog that needs to be rescued,or purchase a pup if you have room for a LG dog. Gt Pyrenees have plenty of hair to survive winter if they have a shelter to get out of the wind. Also some other breeds have winter type hair coats.

Unbelievable. I went out again, yeah now there's a skunk too. At least that had the decency to run, the coons just go up a tree and glare at me.

My run is next to a creek which is like the local wildlife highway - we've had otters float by, families of coons, a young bobcat, there's even a local bear. Thankfully all the possible predators thus far have been doing just that - passing by, following the stream. But this is why I make sure the coop is locked up every night.

I bet you are right. Fishers, mink, yup I had bear prints once this spring too. I was out of poultry for years primarily because my losses were very high. I determined to build safer this time.

So far so good, but when I step outside and see eye shine from every direction those walls feel flimsy!
