Preen Gland infection?

I have this pullet chick she hatched on June 21st from Ideal Poultry.
She has been having issues growing tail feathers and today I noticed she was bloody & a swollen preen gland. I'm not sure if she is plucking at it or if the other chicks are plucking too. I'm going to seperate her tomorrow morning.
What causes this and how can I treat it? Thanks

Can you clean it with saline and put antibiotic cream on it? It should be without pain killer, anything with "caine" at the end is toxic to chickens.

If possible I would give her antibiotics, I bought aqua mox and keep a small stash on hand.

I put colloidal silver on and it was almost cleared yesterday. Last night I put Vetrycin one it and it's looking much better

So its all swollen again and smells like infection should I try poking it with a needle?

Can you give her Epsom Salt baths twice a day? Then use the vetricyn spray. Also keep her separated in an area she won't be picked at. She may be dust bathing and getting germs that way as well. My suggestion is not to poke it.

For preen gland infections, you can apply a warm wet compress for several minutes to to it, and try massaging it. Is she pecking at the feathers or are the other chickens doing it? You may need to separate her in a wire dog crate with food and water if others are picking her.

Agree with @Eggcessive , a warm compress does wonders! Do you have access to aqua mox?

And I agree with @SmiYa0126 who agrees with @Eggcessive. Warm compress and maybe antibiotics since it keeps recurring.
