And I agree with @SmiYa0126 who agrees with @Eggcessive. Warm compress and maybe antibiotics since it keeps recurring.

I have this pullet chick she hatched on June 21st from Ideal Poultry.
She has been having issues growing tail feathers and today I noticed she was bloody & a swollen preen gland. I'm not sure if she is plucking at it or if the other chicks are plucking too. I'm going to seperate her tomorrow morning.
What causes this and how can I treat it? Thanks

Oh poor baby! I think it’s infected my dad knows how to remove it on pigeons but I think it would be hard and painful on a chicken and it’s pretty risky too but have u tried any antibiotics

Thank you! I put collidal silver and Vetericyn on it and it healed just fine. Turned out to be a Rooster his Tail grew in slow but finally did come in!
