Preening gland?

My EE is losing fethers around her preening glad and the skin at the base of the gland is swollen. I dust the coop, run and my 4 hens with food grade D.E every other month so I don't think it is mites, lice or ticks. Also, no other hen showers any signs. What can I do to help my EE?

The area is still definitely swollen and only time will tell if it's going to be a problem again. There is currently another black scab at the same exact location as the first one that I picked off..... the hole(after I picked it off) is what is in the photo graph that I posted. Whatever you do, don't do what I did......without any knowledge of the situation....surgery.
