The link in my signature has my pond info. Keep your eye out for garage sales and cruise the craigslist posting. You can get the liners for pennies on the dollar. I only paid $50 for mine and it came with a pump.

I was thinking of getting a preformed pond or a stock tank. Prices made me rethink the whole thing, plus we are on a well and it will take forever to refill those. So we've decided on kiddie pool. The medium and large size. We've fitted them with a ball valve, which allows us to drain it without breaking our backs. It also preserves the kiddie pools from getting all crumpled up. We've also build small decks for each pool with easy to walk up stairs. I can email building instructions to anyone who wants to build the decks and stairs. It's really easy, promise. So here are some photos:

They do!!! Well, not all of them. They sometimes also jump into the middle of the pool. The male loves to sit on top and play big man of the pool. Really funny.

Just used the slide.
We mainly bought the large one so they can dive, never thought they would use the slide. Surprise Surprise it was.
The good part is the kiddie pools are cheap and they fill up relatively fast with a water hose. The key is to put the ball valve in, that way the pools don't crack from lifting over and over.

Where did you get the ball valve and how did you put it in? Any glue or poxy or tape around the threads? Do you have to have a kiddy pool that is thick?

I bought a cheapy $9.00 pool at KMart that's not very thick and not sure how putting a hole in it would hold up.

I have a HUGE metal stock tank I bought to brood my chickens in that is no longer being used and I was thinking of placing on Craigslist to trade for a smaller shallow one with plug to use for the ducks.

I'm using the cheap pools from walmart. The parts are available at home depot. The hole I cut with a small utility knife (around $1.50).

Two #11 O-Rings (3/4") @ 1.97 for 10 pieces

All pieces are available at Home Depot or other hardware store. Make sure to cut your hole as tight as possible. Put the Male Adapter with an o-ring inside of the pool, add another o-ring outside and screw on the ball valve. No glue needed. Really simple.
You can also buy a hose adapter, which you can screw into the outer part of the ball valve. This enables you to connect a garden hose to it, so you can have the dirty water discharge anywhere in the garden.

3/4 In. x 3/4 In. MPT x MHT (Male Hose Thread) PVC Hose Thread Adapter @ $0.99

The prices given are from Home Depot. They do not include sales taxes. Take this list with you to the hardware store and have someone help you. Make sure they all screw together before you leave.

How big is the stock tank? Any pictures? I may be interested in buying it from you. We are in southern Oregon, but we will be in Puyallup first weekend in October.

160 some gallons - I think. I'll need to look at the label that's on the tank.
