Premier 1 vs. Rent a Coop Heat Plate

Oh no! How did the chicks almost die?
User error on my MHP build.. I tried using plastic wrap I had on hand instead of press and seal recommended to keep droppings off.

Somehow they ended up inside the plastic wrap sealed into a nice little bubble.

Had I not heard the quite complaining I might not have discovered them before they ran out of oxygen and asphyxiated.

Of course I cannot blame the MHP.. but people are people and many of us improvise before certain lessons are learned. Plus the chicks were always pushing and climbing, to snuggle into the MHP.. end up on top, stuck up the side crack and so on.

FWIW.. the rent a coop plates I'm using.. one is indoors the other out. My local friend also uses them at both places. My weather is always mild temperature wise.. rarely into 30's.

Started with the 250w white, then red. Switched to ceramic infrared on the journey to discovering the value built into heat plates. Never going back! :thumbsup

I’m planning for a 16x24 since we’ve ordered 20 eggs. Both brands seem to get good reviews and there’s not much difference at all in price. I’m just curious what type of experiences you all might have had with either of those brands and if there are opinions on whether one is better than the other.
I just got that plate and it’s huge!!! Actually it might be way too big! We will see
