Prepared my Pekins for belowe zero temps today **Pics**

NO bluey... no shampoo and no bleach..

just water and duck spit. hmm.. but I don't think they actually have spit. They cleaned and cleaned with their bills when the water was out of the tub. Their beaks kept clicking and they preened their feathers. It was an amazing transformation. They were in the water about an hour.. maybe longer.

The flash on my camera bleached them out a little bit too on that bottom picture.... BUT.. they are really white and clean.

I checked on them this am and they were happy girls. 2 eggs in the nest and waiting for breakfast. (warm oatmeal topped with cracked corn, layer pellets.. and the crust off of Celeste sandwich for school.

I think they look great... and those duck love looking their best... I can see that gleam in their eyes

The duck how looks good and insulated from the nasty weather by the way... I think they will tough it out well today.

Thanks!

They were perky and looking for food and water when I fed them this morning. I got 2 eggs too. The size of a large chicken egg.. but 2 eggs nonetheless.

It was around zero.. give or take a few degrees.

They are so sweet. You make me want ducks, but dh squawks about it every time I mention it. Maybe one day. You certainly take good care of them, that is very plain to see.

Thanks Becky.

Just some FYI.. ducks are messy.
They are pigs with shovels! lol!

The girls are doing GREAT! (thanks for askin')

I got 3 beautiful duck eggs this morning from them.

Even with a cut out vent covered with hardware cloth and various holes drilled for ventilation, I need to let their house air out today. If it's not too windy, I will set them be outside for an hour or so. They will go hunker down in their leanto next to the chicken run. I will probably let the chickens out too for a while.. into their run. I let the chickens out yesterday and had to coax them back in with treats!

This way everyone can stretch their wings too.
