Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

I'll have to try peas again. Maybe they'll start liking them at some point. They have to chase the zucchini all around because it moves with each nibble 🤣 They like the blueberries tossed in the pool. Tulley will fish them out, squash them and then share. So I guess their pool is "Blueberry Butt Soup" instead of the regular ol "Butt Soup"

Also impatiently waiting for Pickles, Lil Bib, Bobbles, and Beans big day pics. :pop
Agreed! Can't wait to see them showing off their stuff 💜

I do need to get new pictures. I wish I had taken them all throughout this drastic change. It looks like they're about half way done

@FunnyfarmMidwest congratulations! That's wonderful! Super exciting to learn something new and surprising about your beauties!

@Overo Mare they're so precious! I tried offering peas to my Calls and they're not impressed. My big ducks don't like them either. I guess it's a good thing my daughter can't get enough of them as she'll eat them instead of a total waste. I have found that my Calls are crazy about zucchini. They can't get enough of that. They kinda like blueberries but not a favorite. Of course meal worms are a huge hit. Another couple of things they don't like is Bananas & yellow squash. Lylah isn't big on treats of any kind. She like to nibble on me. She's also the gaurd duck and enjoys chasing my Svart Hona rooster along their fence line anytime he comes over to check in on them. The Silverudd's Blue doesn't get her upset like the other guy so maybe it's a personality thing. She's a funny duck though. She's not a fan of the wild Canada Geese that have been traveling by their pen (they walk over I'm assuming because they're molting) and she will stalk each one as they walk by and call out. They are so much entertainment and fun 💜
Thanks so much @HeatherKellyB ! I feel like they did fairly well. I was very intrigued to learn more about them. :hugs

@Overo Mare your calls are adorable! It looks like they really enjoyed the peas… (and your toes) :p

As for the coloring, whenever I spoke with Pyxis about colors, she said a Bibbed should have a Bib only. So the white shouldn't go any further down under the duck. Of course I am the least knowledgeable one here, so please keep that in mind. I absolutely love learning about the colors. Even with a little extra white or whatever, your ducks win first place in our eyes and hearts. That's such a wonderful experience though. I'd love to try that someday. Are they judged against other Calls in general or by specific colors? How does that work? Sounds to me like your babies did really well. Great job @FunnyfarmMidwest i can't wait to see them at the show.

Once again, this thread brings me so many smiles. I love this thread. Y'all are the best 💜

Yes, that is correct. Little Bib was docked points for the white on her face. Bobbles is considered a “black pied” but I don’t think that it is a recognized color. It’s ok though. He’s still my favorite. :love

I really enjoy learning about the colors. I talked to the judge for a long time too. He knows a guy in Iowa with show quality calls. I would love to purchase a pair so I have been thinking about that. It was a really fun experience. I bet your ducks would do great!

This was a fair in a small town so I’m not sure about how they are judged in others. I was surprised that not many people had calls at this fair. In this particular fair, the calls were just put in the “small breed duck category” so there were a few call pairs and some mallards.

There was a white call drake, and a few snowy calls.

For the small males, Beans and Bobbles were behind a snowy drake and a mallard drake. Behind Bobbles was a white drake.

For the females, pickles was first and little bib was second, behind them was a snowy hen.

Then there was a third category for pairs. So Beans and Pickle were one pair and Bobbles and little bib were one pair. The snowy pair placed first and mine placed first and second.

I love this thread too! I love talking to all you guys and learning new things! :D

I tried to get pictures showing the boys new plumage coming in. Tulley has a little bit of black in the center of his bill above the bean so that's one easy way to tell them apart. They're both such sweet boys. All 4 of these Calls are such sweethearts
