Just candled the eggs for the first time today. The remaining 5 are all looking great. Should I remove the quitters or leave one more day?

I throw any un-viable eggs out as soon as I notice them.

And thanks! I was so amazed to be able to make out the entire duckling! Usually I can't. That egg is very lively and looking great.

I'm a little more hesitant throwing out duck eggs. I thought for sure one was a quitter a couple times and I was wrong. Really sad, at least they don't suffer long before they pass. If you do throw them out do it one at a time, so if it's alive at least you'll save one. I would think they were quitters looking at them too.

Great advice, thanks! With my Pekin eggs in the past I’ve waited a couple days until I’m absolutely positive. I luckily haven’t had one explode yet. These two I’m fairly certain and feel comfortable tossing because there hasn’t been any movement whatsoever since around day 10 or 11. There are no longer any veins at all and there is a discoloration on the outside of one of the eggs. You can’t tell from the candling picture though. I will definitely do it one at a time though. I will most likely do an eggtopsy as well.

Yeah, no need to get in a huge rush to toss them or anything.
I hesitate to throw any out in later stages of incubation when it becomes harder to see inside the egg because the duckling is filling it up. But
with those pictures like she posted where there is a black blob on one side of the egg and no veins at all.. it's pretty easy to determine they have quit.
