Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

Pics
Yeah, no need to get in a huge rush to toss them or anything.
I hesitate to throw any out in later stages of incubation when it becomes harder to see inside the egg because the duckling is filling it up. But
with those pictures like she posted where there is a black blob on one side of the egg and no veins at all.. it's pretty easy to determine they have quit.
Thanks! That’s what I was thinking. I’ve waited a few days and I’m certain now that they are quitters. :)

Day 14! 12 days to go!! The 5 eggs are still going strong. The one that I got the candling video of yesterday was egg 1s so it is Squeegee’s egg! I am so happy that one of her eggs is doing well! Removed 5s and 2s the quitters. I do notice they all have totally different sized air cells. Some have on the smaller side and some larger. Usually when I incubate they all look similar size wise but these are all over the place. Is it because some of the eggs were older? I notice that 1 has a very large air cell but some such as 8 or 9 the newer ones don’t, there’s are on the smaller size. .

I would say so, yes.
The older eggs could have larger air cells.

Did an eggtopsy on the quitters. This one quit moving and the veins started to breakdown about 3-4 days ago. That would put it quitting on day 10-11 does that look right? Also is the white stuff bacteria? Here is egg 2s kinda brownish and murky yolk. No strong smell that I could smell. There was some discoloration on the outside of the shell near the air cell. This one got further than the other one and had an bill with a egg tooth and some possible feather follicles starting. Cause of death for either is unknown.

Here’s egg 5s which quit moving and the veins started going away around day 9 or 10. a day or 2 before the other one. Same brown murky yolk and this one had a bit of a smell. Duckling had no bill forming yet like the other one that quit later.

That was sad seeing how far those littles had come to then quit but I sure hope the last 4 make it to hatch day. Sure looking forward to seeing those little ones♥️ Made me laugh thinking about a tiny Call sitting on Jumbo Pekin eggs I had a Muscovy sit a goose egg. Her little butt in the air but she managed to hatch him. lol

It was. Certainly disappointing for them but I’m grateful to have four that are doing great! I definitely hope that the last 4 hatch! It was very funny in person! I ended up giving Squeegee 2 call eggs to sit on but she still has a jumbo pekin egg. Her eggs are on day 13. She has 2 developing!! I’m hoping she hatches them! I’ve been keeping it a surprise till I knew some were developing. Her nest is hidden under the lawnmower in my shed. That is so funny that your Muscovy hatched out a gosling! ❤️
