preserving the hatched eggshells?

I'm wondering what I can do to sort of "sterilize" the egg shells from some hatched peeps, dark eggers and blue eggers in particular.

Maybe I could dip them in boiling water for a few seconds to burn all the cooties? Without destroying the shells?

Boiling them wont hurt the egg shell, a few seconds won't sterilize them though (I think it would have to be at least a few minutes). You could also soak them in a mild bleach solution. Really the egg shells aren't going to be hurt by much. Just make sure you remove the blood and membranes from the chick.
