OK ~ enough of all those creepy ugly bug pictures. Lets see some pretty bugs now!

I'll go first ~ this is a Pandorus Sphinx Moth that was in my greenhouse this afternoon.

The prettiest bug I ever saw (but didn't get a picture of) was the caterpillar of the Io moth .

Huge life lesson: DON'T TOUCH PRETTY BUGS! Use a stick, or just leave them alone. I was in the woods doing land navigation with Army ROTC and went "oooh, pretty bug!" *pickup* *momentary pause* "OW OW OW OW OW OW!!!!!!!!" Yep, didn't realize it was covered in urticating hairs. Hand swelled up and hurt big time! Getting attacked by a caterpillar acting in self defense = other cadets have a great laugh at my expense.

That's a beautiful moth. I've never seen one. Thanks for sharing the picture. Theoldchick, sorry, but those nymphs ARE ugly.
