This is Jenna, who hatched about 6 months ago (spring, 2012). My daughters wanted silkies and we couldn't find a breeder locally that had any available. So, I was at the farm store and bought 6 chicks from the "assorted bantams" group that came from Estes Hatchery.

My daughters are the chicken experts, but I figured if I picked all feather-legged chicks, there would be a good chance for silkies. Well, no such luck. ;-) We ended up with 5 cochins and this one, which we aren't sure is a purebred anything.

Estes lists these breeds in their bantam selection:

Black Cochin,
B.B. Red Old English,
Buff Cochin,
Golden Seabright,
Millie Fleur,
Partridge Cochin,
Porcelain D'uccle,
Black, White, and Blue Silkies,
Silver Seabright, and
White Black Tailed Japs

They don't believe she is pure Porcelain D'uccle because she isn't bearded, and we assume she should be at 6 months of age.

Any ideas?

Thanks! :-)

Toni

PS She usually holds her tail more upright than this, and she LOVES to fly (is good at it) and perches up higher than the cochins.

She's a Porcelain Booted Bantam pullet. A Booted Bantam is just a d'Uccle with no beard/muffs.
x2 she is 100% pure breed. sometimes d'uccles pop up without beards and they are called booted bantams
