Speaking of dyed feathers...here's another entry I photographed in the above mentioned chicken pageant last year...
 
That is so adorable! I'm inspired! There are plenty of colors in my bag, since I rarely paint my nails... But I would rather paint a chicken's nails! So sweet!

I'm new, too, BTW. My 20 year old cockatoo has wanted to hatch eggs all her life, but I've lost birds to egg-binding before. For close to 2 decades, I've wanted to give her fertile chicken eggs to hatch, and this is our first year doing it. Today is day 18!

Looking fwd to seeing more of your posts! Is this red chicken your only hen? Will you be getting more?
