But wait! The story gets better. DH met up with DD#1 the other night while he was working. He tells me later that he insisted that she take $25. He said he felt bad cuz he had put out so much $$$ for her sister's move.
Okay, so twenty-five bucks. She did find a job working at a convenience store, so maybe she'll use it to buy herself some sodas or lunch, right? NOT!
They both come for a visit yesterday and DD #1 has a six pack of beer with her. I'm not sure how much a six pack costs; we rarely drink. What I do know is that we live in a dry county. She had to drive over the state line to get it!!!

They have both proved by squandering the inheritance that they don't make good financial choices. $25 or $250,000! It is all the same for some people. If its there, spend it! My sister and I both inherited some $ when my folks passed away. I was 30, my sister 27 so we should have been smarter! I do admit to making some poor choices. I quickly got smart though. I have a sizable start on my sons college fund. (over 20k) I also own 2 homes both of which are rentals. My sister was broke within the first 2 years. Some learn, some don,t. We still have financial difficulties because of DS accident but we survive, happy and healthy.

Oh Kat. I have said it before, and I'll say it again. Aren't stepkids fun??? I love mine like my own too, but sometimes they are a trial.

I was asked to babysit all weekend, next weekend. My DH will be working. I may survive it, I may not.

I'm going to come at this with a different point of view so here goes. I had a wicked step monster, she ran me out of my dad's place when I was 11 and even a decade later she told my SIL that I was not welcome on their property. My dad owns a machine shop and my brother has worked there since he was a kid (shh don't tell child services

) and when she decided she wanted to "go back to work" she was a stay at home mom with no kids at home, she made my dad build a separate entrance at the shop that she could use so she didn't have to see my brother! It has been like this for years! They paid for her kids school, cars and even condo's but my brother and I have never asked for a thing, mind you we have never received a thing either. Because of the cold shoulder we learned early to be self sufficient. I think parents SHOULD take care of their kids BUT only if they are kids. You do not need to parent adults. Like the old saying ,give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day....hmmm someone needs to teach these girls to fish

I am sure you will survive it with some intentions of not doing it again for a while. My hubby's ex wife has a baby. She is not fit, so my stepdaughter drags her "brother" home all the time. We finally told her, we are not raising a child, take him somewhere else. We feed and house you for free (She is 20) and we arent doing it for him too.

Yep, there's a group of do-gooders/nosey old biddies/holiers than thou's in town that created an organization called StayDry.

Fight like wildcats to keep alcohol sales out of THEIR county. Funny thing is most of the members of StayDry have the best stocked home liquor cabinets in town.

Every one else just drives over the state line and gives Oklahoma all that tax revenue that Arkansas needs.
