preventing coccidosis?

I have had my chicks on organic chick starter from the day I got them, and they are doing fine almost 6 weeks later. I worried, like you, but a friend nearby also used just the starter and hers are fine as well, one year later. I think it helps to be knowledgeable in the event your chicks have issues. One of my chicks had what looked like a bloody stool within the first couple of days on arrival, and I poured over the stool chart. Turned out not be anything to worry about. Good luck with your babies, and please post pictures when you get them!

Yes, that's teh stuff. Get the 9.6%.

I had a heck of a time finding it in the 16oz bottles, at least online and in the local stores. I ended up finding and buying it on ebay. I am glad I don't need it right now, but wanted to have some on hand just in case so treatment can begin immediately if symptoms arise. I did also order a bottle of Sulmet, just to have on hand. I'd always use the Corid first though.

I did medicated starter from the time I got my chicks they are 7 weeks on Tuesday and we haven't had any problems with them getting sick.

If you have a vet nearby that treats large animals see if they'll sell you a small amount. I bought a water bottle full of it from the vet that sees our cattle but then I found smaller bottles at a farm store.
