I'm planning on doing 2$ a dozen, 3$ for two dozen. I mainly just don't want excess eggs to waste and can offset some feed cost. Not trying to make any money as that will be cheaper than the grocery in my area. I can sell 6 dozen a week out of my house with no extra permit or inspection needed. Having 8 hens I think I will be ok for most of the year. My family easily eats 2 dozen a week or so. And if the wife bakes then we sure need some eggs!!
The state regs in Mississippi say that I can not deliver. Next year when I have more time and will expand my flock, I am going to go ahead and look into getting inspected and licensed so I can take to farmers markets or deliver, and also do some meat birds. First for my family and then start selling. There is a huge demand for organic/natural food in my area. Just talking to friends and coworkers, I'd never have enough supply for the demand. It would strictly be a hobby, but a hobby that pays for itself is that much better!!
