Price of Postage Going Up Again

The postal service has added millions to its income since the inception of EBAY, Amazon.com and the other online shopping websites.

Not enough to offset other losses:

Sorry all you good postal workers, but I've been burned out on the USPS for a long time. Try standing in line while you watch one after another go on break or lunch, or one lady with fingernails so long she can't work the machines except at an ant's pace. I pay my bills on-line and have for a long time. I get my bills on-line and now that I have free bill-pay from my bank, even the small bills like local garbage pick-up is paid on-line. I pay my mother's bills through her bank's bill pay. I stay in contact with my family in other states through email. Don't even send Christmas cards anymore.

So, while the rate hike makes me so mad I could boil - it really won't affect me that much. Just another bother that I can put to the back of my mind and not worry about.

But I will be buying a boatload of the everlasting stamps (who wants to bet there will be a shortage, cause you know they're not going to print up enough).

The Internet has done a lot to make the Post Office more expensive. If you pay some bills online, it's like a stamp you don't need to buy, so I'm not worried about paying a couple extra cents for the few things I *do* send through the mail.

It is a government agency so it is subsidized to some degree by all of us already. To me $.02 a letter isn't that big of a deal but I get a bit PO'd when we're told that government will run some things better than the private sector.

Makes sense...kill Saturday delivery, raise postage cost and still manage to crush every 3 out of 5 boxes you handle. Must be a government facility.

Oh I hope that the priority rates won't be increasing.....because that means more expensive shipping for sellers and buyers.....I'll pour through the news info to see if that will be affected. Actually I love our po. they do a great job handling packages and are so conscientious and courteous....I'm blessed with a great po on the local end!

Honestly, I would rather lose mail delivery for a day or two each week.
I would have to be more cafeful shipping eggs, but I think it would be more cost effective than anything else...
