Prices for Birds?

steller's eider are only available from 2 maybe 3 breeders in North America, and they seldome if ever sell any. When they do, plan on the $5000 per pair range, they are still the rarest of all seaducks in captivity, seconded by the spectacled eider.
The torrent ducks are too tropical for a Canadian life, if that's where you are from, and of the 3 species available, I know of no one who has them, their requiements are just too extreme, dont even think Sylvan Heights has them, they are super cool looking though.
Getting birds between USA and CANADA isnt too bad, nothing like over seas imports. Pretty much with a vet health certificate you can send them right across.

oh and you can get mute and black swans for $400- $500 pr all day long, you just have to look around for them. I am seeing more at that grand range now, so not sure how much longer they will be around at that price, but I do see ads for them all the time for yearling pairs at $500, all the others are over a grand. Tundar, whooper, beswick, and all. Coscorobas arent too bad either though.

what about white head ducks, boy you have some fancy taste, LOL

Again only a small handful of breeders have those, all are the breeding results of Mike Lubbock and are in the thousand plus range if you find one who will part with any. I persoanlly only know of 3 breeders with them at all.

price wise
all the seaducks
white head
white water ducks
bronze wings
pygmy geese
pink eared
maccoa
argentine ruddy's
masked
musk

etc, all these are super rare in North America and cost a small sized fortune if you do find any.

All the ones Destin listed are fairly easy to come by, and pretty much will have to be what you settle with, as the others just simply arent available to most.
there are 75 or so beutiful species you can easily get though with most being in the $50- $250 per pair price range.

If you have any specific species you are interested in, list them, will give you a decent quote in their price range and tell you where to find them if needed.

But then they become IMMORTAL!!! And we all die sooner or later.

DT you need to start raising some of those swans you got or at the very least sell their eggs to pay for all these birds you want (Unless you're wealthy)I know lots of people on here that would buy them. Myself included. How much did you pay for a pair of your swans? Thats a great idea about the taxidermy though, I could recoup some money if I have any die on me.(im not wealthy)Do you have any other waterfowl besides the swans ?

I was thinking the same think, coscoroba eggs are a little high for an homelet, LOL
Many would be happy to pay a good price form them I'm sure.

I mount dead birds too, (not personally) But have a house full of taxidermy. Now i wouldnt kill a pen raised one just for that reason, but if they die naturally, why not preserve them.

Wow, I didn't even know some of the species that you listed even existed, Mr. Bottom!!! But WOWZERS $5000!!!! We'd all have to be Donald Trump or something! Hey Dr. Todd, what's wrong with selling your birds for taxidermy??? I have 3 dead Cayugas and 2 gerbils that mother says I must take out of her freezer. I have to raise money somehow to buy those falacateds!!!

yep there's a huge list of migratory/ornamental waterfowl out there, many of which, most have never heard of, those of course are the expensive ones, LOL
The majority of them are much more reasonably priced though

It is sad when they die.. but right now I have three died birds in the freezer... Can't decide if I want to just sell them to a taxidermist or have them done for myself.. Might as well! Nothign is wrong with them as far as looks go..

2 bahama Pintail Hens and 1 Silver Wood Duck hen.. and at the point my Silver Wood Duck Drake has imprinted on a White Wood Duck Drake.. Geez just my luck!!

BBB you need to stop naming birds for me to google or I will be building several more pens.. LOL 10 acres to use so it is all good
