steller's eider are only available from 2 maybe 3 breeders in North America, and they seldome if ever sell any. When they do, plan on the $5000 per pair range, they are still the rarest of all seaducks in captivity, seconded by the spectacled eider.
The torrent ducks are too tropical for a Canadian life, if that's where you are from, and of the 3 species available, I know of no one who has them, their requiements are just too extreme, dont even think Sylvan Heights has them, they are super cool looking though.
Getting birds between USA and CANADA isnt too bad, nothing like over seas imports. Pretty much with a vet health certificate you can send them right across.
oh and you can get mute and black swans for $400- $500 pr all day long, you just have to look around for them. I am seeing more at that grand range now, so not sure how much longer they will be around at that price, but I do see ads for them all the time for yearling pairs at $500, all the others are over a grand. Tundar, whooper, beswick, and all. Coscorobas arent too bad either though.
what about white head ducks, boy you have some fancy taste, LOL
Again only a small handful of breeders have those, all are the breeding results of Mike Lubbock and are in the thousand plus range if you find one who will part with any. I persoanlly only know of 3 breeders with them at all.
price wise
all the seaducks
white head
white water ducks
bronze wings
pygmy geese
pink eared
maccoa
argentine ruddy's
masked
musk
etc, all these are super rare in North America and cost a small sized fortune if you do find any.
All the ones Destin listed are fairly easy to come by, and pretty much will have to be what you settle with, as the others just simply arent available to most.
there are 75 or so beutiful species you can easily get though with most being in the $50- $250 per pair price range.
If you have any specific species you are interested in, list them, will give you a decent quote in their price range and tell you where to find them if needed.
