The name of this thread just makes me sad. :hmm I don’t eat Pringles much, but they are definitely a guilty pleasure food. Something about the slightly flavored cardboard gets me every time.
It’s funny you said that, because I kept wanting to compare them to cardboard, too, but I didn’t want to offend anyone. Yet somehow, even tho we compare them to cardboard, they are addicting, aren’t they? I still remember when the pizza flavor came out. Luxury potato chips.

A funnel web spider just sounds terrifying! So no it was not too big, actually 😁 I am just a baby. It was probably the size of my thumb nail. And tbh I’m not sure what it is, my mom always said they were cat face spiders growing up and told us they were good and needed to stay because they ate bad spiders, but I do not know if any of that is true!
It is both a Cat-Faced and Orb Weaver spider! I love the Cat-Faced term, it's something I haven't heard the Orbs called before. We get them hanging between trees and I'm always concerned I'm going to end up with one on my face, like that scene in Alien lol.

Cat-Faced (Araneus gemmoides)

The cat-faced spider, known to some as the jewel spider, thrives during the nighttime. Part of the orb-weaver family, these spiders create spiral webs shaped like wheels.

Ecological Importance and Behavior of Cat-Faced Spider

The cat-faced spider plays a pivotal role in natural insect control, especially around human dwellings. Their nocturnal activities involve meticulous web construction, which inadvertently reduces the population of nocturnal insects. The presence of these spiders contributes significantly to maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

LifespanFew weeks ( Males mostly die post mating and females after producing the first egg sac)

“Like the scene from Alien”

That’s what I’m afraid of too! Except in Space no one can hear you scream, in my neighborhood they most certainly can!

Hey that’s good to know, I had no idea. I looked up a picture online and the little bumps do look like cat ears. I will let them stay and hang out more often now. Usually I move them, inevitably we always get one right in our door frame and when we move it, it’s always back the next night! They’re determined spiders!
