Sandpoint ID
Hello, I am a new flock owner here in Sandpoint ID. I raised only 2 Easter Eggers 5 years before then gave them to my parents for their small farm. Now I am starting my own flock this year with my husband. Since I have never really raised chickens I picked a few pure breds and my husband picked a few. I even went so far as to incubate some eggs. I have bantam Mille Fleur D'Uccles, a Blue Silkie, a partridge silkie, 4 lavender frizzle silkies, 1 Barred plymouth rock, 1 australorp, 1 buckeye, 1 golden laced and 1 silver laced wyandotte, 1 white crested polish, 2 silver laced polish, 2 Black Copper Marans, 1 Blue Orpington, 1 buff and 1 light Brahma bantam, 1 Easter Egger, 1 frizzle black cochin, and 1 golden campine. I love this site! It's always full of great information which I am in great need of. For example, how am I going to design a coop that will keep my beautiful and sweet D'Uccles alive in the winter under all our snow. It certainly is great to be a part of the community here!

go to "where am I, where are you," to find your state thread - people from your area can give you the best advice on the type of coop, etc. you will need for your climate.

There are some northern Idahoans on the Idaho forum that I am sure can help you. :D

I tried to pick breeds that are a little gentler with some that are good (didn't have to be great layers and possibly some diversified). They each certainly have their personality traits. I can see a couple of them will end up being more of pets lol.
