Was and now I got my panties out of a bunch its the only way to deal with birds of any size i do it with my parakeets too

That's good to know my mother wants parakeet babies next mothers day(they are the ones also known as budgies right ?)

Yup my husband just told me there will be no incubating more than 30eggs at a time if I wanted to I could do 2000 eggs if I filled the incubater

Darn thats amazing so i take it you sell the babies if you do so much, do u also sell fertile eggs ? ,And how many days till they start losing there chance to hatch, like quail is about 7,

Your roux can make sex links if you cross it to non roux/non silver females, then all red chicks will be girls and all the others are boys. Apologies if I’ve repeated myself.

I know but I'm not interested so much in sex links as I am in just seeing the color in offspring. I have a soft spot for the roux color. Also, why couldn't you breed sex links from silver females? The roux gene should still show even when paired with the silver, right?

Idk. In the Myshire sex link video, Zach says the hen can’t have silver in her background but doesn’t elaborate. I think maybe SSC changes based on the combo, since it’s incompletely dominant, so maybe it’s harder to recognize. My first silvers are only 3 weeks so I haven’t played with this concept yet myself (I plan to), however, he doesn’t directly say it, but in the sex link video Zach specifically says to use Egyptian and not scarlet and doesn’t elaborate, but in my experience scarlet works the same.

I've only ever sold to friends and family and I have never tried to sell my eggs cause they are more fragile than quail eggs

I love my scarlets too, I set some of their eggs and got seven chicks. 5 were boys and only one of the girls was a roux.


It turns out the tuxedo is a hen, so I'm really glad I decided not to keep the wildtype. It's not good for a rooster to suddenly have it out for a hen.

Also, what does rooster on rooster violence look like? When I was working in the aviary, I saw my little white rooster start grabbing the head feathers on my big Tibetan rooster. It looked like breeding behavior but they are both boys.
