Problem w/ Neighbors about our backyard chickens/rooster

I just got a word back from KCRA Channel 3, they stated that it was a 'criminal' case and they couldn't get involved.

I also just finished completing a Sacramento Police Harassment report. Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions.

I gave your suggestions about beefing up the security to my parents so hopefully if and when they decide to acquire more chickens/rooster that they will be prepared for any more predators

update 2/10/2011:
I was declined on the police report. They pretty much said that it wasn't harassment as defined by law and were not going to do anything. On a separate theft claim was also declined saying something about not their jurisdiction on handling animal disappearances.

My hen finally passed away about six months after the Rooster disappeared. My parents haven’t purchased any more chickens as they have stated they don't want to deal with the neighbors about it anymore.

Stick to your guns. Roosters crow, fact of life. Legally kept roosters crow, too. I think I'd be putting up cameras and signs saying they are being recorded. The best defense is a good offense.

If the neighbors do not like the rooster crowing too danged bad...let them move to a neighborhood zoned residential only.

Peronally, I would have had the suckers locked up for breaking my dog's jaw and in this instance, for trespass and theft. I would never and will never tolerate behavior like that from anyone!

Your neighbors would hate me...My sign at the property perimeter shows a handgun and states "Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again"
