Problem with my rooster and hen's combs and wattles -

I have 1 rooster and 7 hens which are all starting to get some type of "black" stuff on their combs and wattles. It looks like it is eating away at both. Does anyone know what it might be and what I should do? I am a little on edge because we eat the eggs. I saw the picture of the Avian Pox and although it is black they are not pox like -
Any info will be greatly appreciated. Sorry just realized I posted to the wrong area

A pic in this case would be extremely useful to help in identification of the problem (might just be they are pecking at each other)

Could it be frost bite? A couple of mine are showing signs of it on their wattles and combs.
